Doctor infected with Ebola released from Hospital
A New York doctor who was
diagnosed with Ebola after working with patients in West Africa will be
released on Tuesday from a hospital where he has been treated for the disease,
the hospital said.
Dr. Craig Spencer,
33, had been held in isolation in Bellevue Hospital Center since he was
diagnosed with Ebola on October 23, after working with patients in Guinea with
Medecins Sans Frontieres.
Spencer will join
Mayor Bill de Blasio and other city officials and Bellevue staff at a news
conference on Tuesday morning. Spencer is expected to make a statement but not
take questions, the hospital said.
Ebola has killed
more than 4,950 people since it broke out in West Africa earlier this year,
according to the World Health Organization. The bulk of the cases and deaths
have come in Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea.
Spencer is one of a
handful of American health workers exposed to Ebola while working in West
Africa, the site of the worst outbreak of the disease on record.
In North Carolina,
health officials said on Monday a missionary doctor deemed to be at "some
risk" for developing the disease after returning from Liberia had been
placed under a 21-day quarantine.
It was the second
quarantine for Dr. John Fankhauser, 52, a family physician from Ventura,
California, who officials said has shown no signs of the virus since arriving
in Charlotte, Christian mission group SIM USA said.
In far northern
Maine, a nurse who treated Ebola patients in West Africa and publicly fought
quarantine orders in New Jersey and Maine after returning to the United States
last month planned to move from her home after her quarantine expired on
Monday, according to local media.
Medical experts say
Ebola can be transmitted only through the bodily fluid of a person who is
exhibiting symptoms.

A big win for India, contentment for cricket fans
A big win for India, double
delight for the Hyderabad Cricket Association as its president, Arshad Ayub,
will be the manager of the Indian team to tour Australia next month and then
the hometown ‘hero’ Ambati Rayudu’s dismissal of the well-set Tillakaratne
Dilshan, providing the biggest cheer of all.
The Chief
Minister, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, who was introduced to both teams before the match, spent quite a long
time at the venue. He was apparently very interested towards the HCA request to
convert the lease agreement of the site into a complete ownership of the
Association. “We were told a senior official will be asked to look into this,”
says a HCA EC member.
It was
good to see the naming of enclosures in the stands after some of the finest
players from Hyderabad which included the likes of ‘Tiger’ Pataudi, Abbas Ali
Baig, P. Krishnamurthy, Syed Abid Ali, M.V. Narasimha Rao (more popular as
Bobjee who was here to watch the match along with another 1971 Indian tour
member Govindraj), Kenny Jayanthilal, Mohammad Hussain and Gul Mohammed.
For a
change, the fans, who at some gates faced embarrassing moments when they were
forced to throw away their caps by cops, were in for a pleasant surprise with
the eatables not too expensive at the Pavilion End.

However, the bank informed
him that his documents were lost, lodged a police complaint, and notified the
same in English and Telugu newspapers to caution the public from misusing them.
The district forum, apart
from awarding Mr. Prabhu Rs.25,000, also directed the bank to execute an
indemnity bond in favour of the complainant, in case a third party misused the
title deed. It also asked ICICI Bank Ltd. to handover a copy of the report
given to the police, the newspaper publications and also to obtain a certified
copy of the sale deed and link documents from the concerned Sub Registrar.

Uttama Villain to release on feb 20,2015....???
There seems to be a lot of mystery surrounding the
release of Kamal Haasan-starrer Uttama Villain.
The directorial venture of Kannada actor-filmmaker Ramesh Aravind was earlier
slated to release on October 2, which obviously did not happen.
Now, if we go by the information of a popular ticket booking site, the film is
slated to release on February 20, 2015. However, since no official confirmation
has come yet, nothing could be said for sure about its release.
We hope the makers will clear the air surrounding the release of the film soon.

'Kiss of Love' campaign reached Jawaharlal Nehru University
The 'Kiss of Love' campaign
reached Jawaharlal Nehru University on Sunday evening as over 200 students and
many outsiders gathered at the Ganga Dhaba to make a statement against moral
policing. However, there were fewer participants locking lips and more spectators
cheering. Unlike Saturday, there was no disruption by right-wing groups, nor
was any cop in sight.
Though most
protesters were from JNU itself, students from Jamia Millia Islamia, Ambedkar
University, National Law University and Delhi University also turned up. They
shouted slogans against right-wing organizations and also directed their acrimony
at PM Narendra Modi.
The protesters
marched towards the cross-section of Tapti and Sabarmati hostels, demonstrating
right in the middle of the road. Left-wing student groups like AISA and SFI
threw their weight behind the movement; JNUSU president Ashutosh was also
present.
"This is to
condemn the onslaught of Sangh brigade on the right to protest, in front of the
RSS headquarters at Jhandewalan on Saturday, and to take forward the resistance
to structures and forces of patriarchal control as well as to assert the right
to love in all its forms," said Gourab Ghosh, one of the organizers of the
Delhi edition of the campaign and a JNU student. Lip-locks ensued with kissing
by both gay and straight couples thrown in for good measures. Hugs clinched the
matter.
'Kiss of Love' was
expected to be uninhibited on Sunday as there was no one present to browbeat
the protesters. There were around eight kisses in all before the protesters
dispersed. "The point is not the number of kisses, but the message we want
to put across. Protesting against regressive groups is vital," said
Prince, a protester from Kerala in JNU.
