Modi preferred to have a fair number of professionals..
The PM has preferred to have a fair number of
professionals in his ministry as he gets into the task of repairing the economy
and the governance structure. Among the four cabinet ministers, Manohar Parikar
is an engineer from the prestigious IIT, Mumbai. He is expected to bring his
experience and be a crucial player in the revamped Modi team.
Suresh Prabhu is a
chartered accountant and considered a policy guru. Modi is expected to rely on
his advice on crucial issues. Among ministers of state with independent charge,
Gautam Buddha Nagar MP Mahesh Sharma is a renowned doctor and runs hospitals in
Noida and Greater Noida.
Health minister
Harshvardhan is a well-known ENT specialist, already providing policy inputs
for the health sector.
Jayant Sinha, son of
former finance minister Yashwant Sinha, is an experienced professional from the
world of financial services and business strategy. He has a sterling education
record having studied at IIT Delhi, Harvard Business School and the University
of Pennsylvania. "I am an engineer and I have a broad experience in many
sectors including telecom and IT apart from finance. Wherever the party and
government depute me, I will do my best to serve the interest of the
nation," Sinha told TOI. He is expected to serve as a link with global
investors and provide strong support to Modi and finance minister Arun Jaitley
prepare a blueprint for economic revival. He counts RBI governor Raghuram Rajan
as a close friend.
Modi's team already
has well known lawyers such as Arun Jaitley, Ravishankar Prasad as well
investment banker Piyush Goyal guiding policy in key segments of governance.
